Stallions News · As closure looms, districts announce plans to keep students fed

Southeast Colorado Springs students who are homebound for the next two weeks may get a culinary helping hand, thanks to food service policies announced Friday. Both Harrison School District 2 and Colorado Springs School District 11 will offer at least one free meal each weekday for school-aged students while the districts are on a two-week closure.

Harrison students up to 18 years old may get a free bagged breakfast and lunch between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., at the following locations:

  • Sierra High School, 2250 Jet Wing Drive;
  • Fox Meadow Middle School, 1450 Cheyenne Meadows Road; and
  • Centennial Elementary School, 1860 S. Chelton Road.

All three have easily navigable parking lots and are in an accessible location, said district Public Information Officer Christine O’Brien. The bagged meals will be offered on weekdays March 16 through 27, and a child must be present in order for the food to be given out.
