Girls Varsity Wrestling · Girls Wrestling Makes History at State Championships

This weekend was very historic for the wrestling program at Sierra High School. With the boy’s team down in Canon City at the CSML League Championships and the Girls at the State Championships in Thorton.

Hailey Ahsmuhs came out on top today as the State Champion for the 147lb weight class. She fought her way through the bracket and defeated the same girl she won against in regionals last week to secure a state title for Sierra girls wrestling. She is now the first Sierra wrestler to hold the title of state champion.

Nadiya Trujillo also came away with some hardware with a 4th place finish for the 100lb division in the state championships. As a freshman at Sierra, she has quite the promising wrestling career.

The Girls Wrestling team also came in 7th overall as a team out fo 65 teams. An amazing accomplishment and a great start to girls wrestling at Sierra.
